Longoria back at third for twin bill vs. Red Sox
BOSTON -- Evan Longoria was back to playing his customary third base for the Rays during Tuesday's doubleheader against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.
Battling plantar fasciitis in his right foot, Longoria had served as the Rays' designated hitter for the last four games. But after an off-day Monday, Longoria felt good enough to go back to third against the Red Sox.
Longoria was originally slated to be the designated hitter in Game 2, but manager Joe Maddon said Longoria felt fine after the Rays' 5-1 loss and could man the hot corner.
Maddon said he'll talk to Longoria daily to determine his status.
Longoria is batting .303 with 14 homers and 42 RBIs in 70 games this season.
