The Atlanta Braves and Emory Healthcare will honor ALS Awareness Day at Truist Park on Tuesday, June 2 to increase awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), elevate stories of hope, and celebrate the legacy of Lou Gehrig.
Discounted and group tickets for June 2 can be purchased below. $16 from each ticket purchased through this link will go to the Emory ALS Center at Emory Healthcare to fund vital research and clinical trials to help improve the health and lives of people living with ALS. The Atlanta Braves Foundation will also make a donation to Emory ALS Center to support this work.
Join us pregame for special on-field ceremonies honoring those across Braves Country impacted by ALS, including the inspirational story of April Anderson, a local ALS warrior and Emory Healthcare patient.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), commonly called Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks motor nerve cells and pathways in the brain and spinal cord. When these cells die, voluntary muscle control and movement dies with them. Patients in the later stages of the disease are totally paralyzed, yet in most cases, their minds remain sharp and alert.
The Emory ALS Center of Emory Healthcare provides integrated, multidisciplinary care for patients and families with ALS and related disorders, offering evidence-based treatments and meeting the individual needs of each patient to optimize comfort and independence. Research at Emory ALS Center is an important part of their work to diagnose, treat, and find a cure for ALS. The center houses a comprehensive research program that integrates laboratory and clinical research programs along with a robust clinical trial program.
Live Like Lou is a nonprofit organization that supports families affected by ALS, funds ALS research to find treatments or cures for Lou Gehrig’s disease, and honors Lou Gehrig’s legacy. Their mission is to create and connect communities to stimulate emerging ALS research. Live Like Lou provides grants to facilitate necessary home modifications for ALS patients, scholarships to ALS caregivers or dependents, and more.
Each year, thanks to the generosity of Braves fans who donate to the Atlanta Braves Foundation, Live Like Lou provides grants to families across Braves Country that allows each family to modify their home in a way that made life less cumbersome and provided increased safety and independence to the family member living with ALS.
Families and Communities Together (FACT) Relief supports families battling debilitating diseases like ALS. By offering targeted financial support as well as long-term planning and guidance, FACT Relief helps to reduce the financial burden for families as they battle ALS. Through the Quiet Hero Party Program, FACT Relief offers grants to families battling ALS as well as grants toward research and ALS programming.
