Youth Baseball Classic FAQ

A mandatory phone conference for ALL COACHES will take place on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, separated by group into three time frames:

6U-8U 5:00 p.m.

9U-12U 5:45 p.m.

13U-16U 6:30 p.m.

Where is the 2017 Braves Youth Baseball Classic located?

The tournament for ages 6-16 will be held at Wills Park in Alpharetta, GA. Webb Bridge Park will also host games for ages 9 and 10, as well as 13 and 14.

What time will the tournament begin each day?

Please review the 2017 draft schedule on the site braves.com/youthclassic. Your team may be asked to play in ANY time slot. Game Schedule and playing times are subject to change. Final schedule will be available one week prior to the tournament.

How long will games last?

Ages 6U-8U = 6 innings or 75 minutes. No new inning will begin after 65 minutes. If at 1 hour, the home team is batting and ahead, the game is over regardless of score. The remaining innings will not be completed. The score in play at the end of the time limit is final. Umpires will keep official time and score.

Ages 9U-12U = 6 innings or 1 hour and 45 minutes. No new inning will begin after 1 hour and 35 minutes. If at 1 hour and 45 minutes, the home team is batting and ahead, the game is over regardless of score. The remaining innings will not be completed. The score in play at the end of the time limit is final. Umpires will keep official time and score.

13U-16U = 7 innings or 1 hour and 45 minutes. No new inning will begin after 1 hour and 35 minutes. If at 1 hour and 45 minutes, the home team is batting and ahead, the game is over regardless of score. The remaining innings will not be completed. The score in play at the end of the time limit is final. Umpires will keep official time and score.

What forms will need to be completed to play in the tournament?

A COPY of a birth certificate and an Atlanta Braves waiver are both needed to participate. A waiver must be signed by all players AND all coaches participating.

When will the team photo with a Braves player take place?

The team photo will take place Saturday, July 15th at 12:30 p.m. A Braves player will meet with each team and take a group photo. No games will be played during this time.

Will the Braves player sign autographs?

No. Due to time constraints, the Braves player will not be able to sign autographs.

What Braves Player will it be?

The Braves player will not be announced until the week of the tournament. The player is subject to change even after the announcement.

Will all games be played at Wills Park?

No. Webb Bridge Park will also host games for 9U, 10U, 13U and 14U.

Will there be a skills competition?

Yes. New this year, all teams will participate in a skills competition on Friday night, starting at 7:00 pm. Further details will be shared by tournament staff. Coaches will also be able to participate in a Home Run Derby following the players' skills competitions.

Will there be concessions offered throughout the day?

Yes. Concessions will be open all three days of the tournament.

Will there be a gate fee/attendance fee?

No. All guests are welcome to watch each game for free.

Will there be a parking fee?

No. Secured parking will be for free for all attendees at Wills Park and Webb Bridge Park.

Will there be a trophy ceremony?

Yes. Trophy ceremonies will take place on Sunday, July 16th after each championship game and only be given to the first and second place teams.

Can we bring coolers?

Yes. Coolers and food will be allowed. No alcohol will be allowed on the grounds.

Should I bring chairs?

Yes. There are stands located at each field but they will fill up quickly.

What type of supplies will I need to bring to the tournament?

Everyone should be fully prepared to play the game of baseball. Bring your own bats, gloves, baseballs (including 2 game balls per game), helmets, water, and first aid kit. Make sure each player is in full uniform with proper protection.

Can we purchase extra tickets to the July 15th game?

Yes. All teams will be able to purchase extra tickets to the July 15th game at a discounted rate. Each coach will receive ordering instructions for extra tickets and discounted parking. Further details will be shared by tournament staff on how to receive your tickets and purchase additional.

What is the parade at the Braves game?

All participants of the Youth Classic (players and coaches) will be able to walk around the warning track at SunTrust Park before the Braves vs. Diamondbacks game on July 15th.

Who can participate in the pre-game parade?

All Youth Classic participants (Players and Coaches ONLY) are able to participate in the pre-game parade. Parade logistics and details will be available a tournament check-in table.

Can we request game times?

No. Accommodations will be made only for teams that are traveling from far away on a case by case basis. Be prepared to play at any time during the tournament.

What is the Refund/Cancellation Policy?

There will be no refund regardless of the weather or if your team has to back out. The fees associated are for the 15 Atlanta Braves tickets and those may be exchanged but not refunded. However, if the tournament is canceled due to lack of participation, a 100% refund will be given.
