SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The Giants and right-handed pitcher Jordan Hicks agreed to terms on a four-year Major League contract worth $44 million. Hicks will earn $6 million in 2024 and $12 million per season from 2025-2027 while also receiving a one-time $2 million signing bonus. He will make a $40,000 donation to the Giants Community Fund in 2024 and a $60,000 donation each season from 2025-2027.  

Hicks can earn an additional $2 million in performance bonuses in each year of the contract for innings pitched at the Major League level: $83,333 each for 100, 110, 120, and 130 innings; $166,667 each for 140, 150, 160 and 170 innings, $333,333 each for 180 and 190 innings and $333,334 for 200 innings. 

Hicks, 27, has pitched parts of five seasons in the Majors for St. Louis (2018-19, 2021-23) and Toronto (2023), posting a 3.85 ERA, 255 strikeouts, 1.30 WHIP and 32 saves over 243.1 innings in 212 games (eight starts).  

Last season, Hicks had 12 saves and a 3.29 ERA (24er, 65.2ip) in 65 combined games between the Cardinals (40 games) and Blue Jays (25 games). His 81 strikeouts, 11.1 K/9ip, and 28.4 strikeout percentage last season were all career bests.  

The Houston, TX, native was originally selected by St. Louis in the third round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Cypress Creek High School in Houston.  

To make room on the 40-man roster for Hicks, RHP Devin Sweet has been claimed off waivers by Detroit.
