The Seattle Mariners commit to increasing youth participation in physical activity with a focus on the games of baseball and softball. Through On BASE (Baseball and Softball Everywhere) the Mariners commit to increasing positive health outcomes through baseball and softball by creating access, removing barriers and building a culture of inclusion.
On BASE, launched in 2018, is designed to support youth baseball and softball in the region, and make the sports more equitable for all young athletes regardless of any barriers they may face. Since 2018, On BASE has provided skills training for area coaches, offered skills-building youth clinics and camps across Washington and Oregon, defrayed the cost of registration fees and awarded grants to high school baseball and softball programs in underserved communities.
In 2021, On BASE will leverage new and existing community partnerships, grants, and long-term fellowship programs through a $250,000 funding commitment.
