MLB’s Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities program, presented by Nike, provides young people in underserved communities the chance to experience the fun and lifelong benefits of playing baseball and softball.
Since 1994, we have supported RBI leagues in Seattle and throughout the Pacific Northwest, providing resources and opportunities that help young athletes thrive both on and off the field.
In 2001, we partnered with MLB to host the RBI West Regional Tournament in Seattle for the first time as part of MLB All-Star Week festivities. In 2023, when All-Star Week returned to Seattle, Baseball Beyond Borders (BBB) and MLB partnered with us to host the tournament in Seattle for a second time. This partnership continued in 2024 and 2025 as the tournament brought in young players from up and down the west coast to put their talents on display and play for a chance to compete in the RBI World Series at the Jackie Robinson Complex in Vero Beach, Florida.
Our ongoing support for Nike RBI Programs includes a partnership with Mariners Training Centers as the official training center for BBB. We also developed on the NW Prospect Showcase at T-Mobile Park in partnership with BBB and Baseball Generations, an organization that includes Mariners shortstop JP Crawford on its Board and serves players at all levels.
Nike RBI teams including Baseball Beyond Borders in Seattle, Friends of Baseball in Portland and Gamers Alaska in Anchorage serve young players across our region. They partner with us to:
- Provide introduction opportunities through PLAY BALL Weekend
- Build advanced skills development through team and league play
- Showcase skills in tournaments and in front of college coaches and scouts
- Train to be umpires
- Explore secondary pathways
- Serve as mentors to give back to the game
