The Padres announced on Monday that they signed 20 of their 21 picks from the 2026 MLB Draft.
The only player San Diego couldn’t sign was right-handed high school pitcher Denton Lord, who was selected in the 17th round. Lord, MLB Pipeline’s No. 80 Draft prospect, is instead honoring his commitment to pitch collegiately at Mississippi State.
There was some hope that the Padres would be able to work out a deal with Lord, who went to the same Florida high school as first-round pick Coleman Borthwick. The 18-year-old Borthwick shared a rotation with Lord at South Walton High School, but the two pitchers will go on separate paths for now.

Additionally, the Padres also announced that they signed nine undrafted free agents: five hitters and four position players.
