Phillies to Install Metal Detectors at Citizens Bank Park on Monday, July 7
MLB -mandated pilot program to be activated starting July 21 during Phillies-Giants series
For the first time, the Phillies will begin using walk-through metal detectors at Citizens Bank Park.
The increased security measures are the result of Major League Baseball's continuing work with the Department of Homeland Security aimed at standardizing security practices across the game. By the start of the 2015 season, all clubs will be required to implement a program for screening every fan prior to entry at each Major League ballpark.
The new metal detectors will first be introduced as a pilot program at Citizens Bank Park.
Starting Monday, July 21, fans entering the ballpark through the Right Field Gate will be required to pass through a metal detector immediately before their tickets are scanned. All cell phones, cameras and other large metal items will need to be removed prior to passing through the metal detectors.
Unlike the standard procedures of the Transportation Security Administration, fans will not be required to remove shoes or belts. Those who cannot pass through a metal detector will be checked with a hand-held device.
These new procedures are in addition to bag checks, which are already in place in accordance with Major League Baseball security regulations. As before, bags must be no larger than 16" x 16" x 8."

Next year, we expect that metal detectors will be at all entrance gates."
Metal detectors will be installed at the Right Field Gate on Monday, July 7 and screening procedures are expected be implemented at the Right Field Gate on July 21.
