With the Minor League season opening this week, here's where the Reds’ Top 30 prospects are projected to start:

Team to watch
Dayton is just a stone’s throw away from the big league team, geographically speaking. And it’d be a good spot to see a lot of future Reds. Nine players on the Reds' Top 30 are starting the year with the Dragons, headlined by Lowder, the organization’s first-rounder last year who will be making his professional debut. A lineup with three top 10 guys (Stewart, Collier and Jorge) is a lot of fun too.

Players we could see in 2024
Phillips touched the big leagues last year and has the stuff to get Major League hitters out right now. Some refinement with his command in Louisville could help him get back up to Cincinnati to help out in the rotation. Dunn has the chance to be another contributor from Triple-A. He provides power and speed while being able to play all three outfield spots. Petty could jump on a faster track and reach the big leagues from Double-A this year, even if it’s in a relief role at first. And don’t rule out Lowder making the climb from High-A Dayton all the way to Cincy before the year is out.

New faces
Lowder leads a group of five 2023 draftees on the Top 30, with he and O’Donnell starting the year together in Dayton. The other three (Floyd, Stafura, Schoenwetter) will not begin with a full-season affiliate. Two 2024 international free agent signees, Sanchez ($2.7 million bonus) and Mariano ($1.65 million) will get their careers underway in the Dominican Summer League.

On the shelf
Marte, the club’s top prospect, tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug, and is serving an 80-game suspension. Arroyo tore the labrum in his non-throwing shoulder and will miss the 2024 season. There's hope he can return for instructs or perhaps the Arizona Fall League. Floyd is on the 60-day IL as well due to elbow discomfort. He’s expected to get on the mound this year, but the Reds wanted to give him the time needed to fully recover and build himself back up for competitive action.
