The Cincinnati Reds and Reds Community Fund joined with Major League Baseball to celebrate the return of PLAY BALL Weekend on June 10-12, 2022!

The weekend kicked off on Friday, June 10 at the P&G MLB Cincinnati Reds Youth Academy, with the beginning of the USA Softball C-Metro Tournament. One of the games featured a special “PLAY BALL Takeover” by the Reds, including appearances by Reds President & COO Phil Castellini, Reds Hall of Famer Tom Browning, the Reds Rally Pack and Reds mascots. Mayor Aftab Pureval was in attendance as well, reading a proclamation declaring June 10 as PLAY BALL Day in Cincinnati. The festivities also included team introductions and the national anthem.

The USA Softball tournament continued throughout the weekend at the Reds Youth Academy and Landen Deerfield Park. PLAY BALL events also took place with a tournament in Xenia at Evans Acres Sports Complex and local Knothole league games at Oakley and Lunken fields. An MLB Pitch, Hit & Run skills competition was scheduled to be a part of PLAY BALL Weekend but was postponed to June 17 and 19 due to inclement weather.

More than 1,000 kids signed up for PLAY BALL Weekend events in Cincinnati, with all participating kids receiving Reds tickets, Reds Hall of Fame and Museum tickets, a Franklin bat and ball set and free MLB.TV subscription.
