In June 2023, the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation launched To Be Me as part of their youth-focused Be Present Ohio project, a new campaign that promotes mental health awareness and suicide prevention for LGBTQ+ youth. According to a survey conducted by the Trevor Project, LGBTQ+ youth who felt high social support from their family reported attempting suicide at about half the rate of those who felt low or moderate social support. We hope to show these Ohio youth that they are not alone, and they are loved just the way they are.
