LATEST INJURIES
RHP Hunter Dobbins
Injury: Torn right ACL
Expected return: TBD
Status: Dobbins is able to pitch but is being held out of agility drills. He underwent testing on his right knee recently and the results were what the Cardinals expected. The team is still mapping out the next steps of Dobbins' rehab. (Updated: Feb. 21)
RHP Riley O'Brien
Injury: Mild right calf strain
Expected return: Mid-March
Status: O'Brien suffered the injury while throwing a bullpen session on Feb. 14. He will need a few weeks to recover and will miss at least the opening round of the World Baseball Classic. He could play for Team Korea later in the tournament depending on his health. (Updated: Feb. 20)
OF Lars Nootbaar
Injury: Surgery on both heels
Expected return: Opening Day?
Status: Nootbaar underwent surgery on Oct. 7. He arrived at Cardinals camp on Feb 18 and said there is no timetable for his return to game action. However, he has not yet been ruled out for Opening Day. (Updated: Feb. 19)
LHP Zack Thompson
Injury: Left shoulder surgery
Expected return: TBD
Status: Thompson underwent surgery in August to clean up his left shoulder. He is on a throwing program, but he won't be cleared to pitch in games until some point in the regular season. (Updated: Feb. 13)
