White Sox reinstate Adam Eaton from 15-day disabled list; place Jose Abreu on 15-day disabled list

HOUSTON - Prior to today's game at Houston, the Chicago White Sox returned outfielder Adam Eaton from his injury rehabilitation assignment at Class AAA Charlotte and reinstated him from the disabled list, while placing first baseman Jose Abreu on the 15-day disabled list with posterior tibia tendonitis in his left ankle.

Eaton, 25, has been on the disabled list since May 3 with a strained right hamstring. He combined to go 2-6 with a RBI and stolen base over two games with Charlotte as part of a doubleheader on Friday.

He is hitting .276 (27-98) with five doubles, a triple, home run, 14 RBI, 20 runs scored and two stolen bases over 25 games this season, his first with the White Sox.

Abreu, 27, is hitting .260 (45-173) with 15 home runs, 41 RBI and 29 runs scored over 44 games in his first season with Chicago. He ranks among the major-league leaders in home runs (1st), extra-base hits (T1st, 27), at-bats per home run (2nd, 11.53), RBI (2nd), total bases (T3rd, 103) and slugging percentage (5th, .595).

Abreu is the reigning American League Player and Rookie of the Month for April. He became the first AL player, and second ever, to win both honors in his first month in the major leagues, joining former Cuban League teammate Yasiel Puig (June 2013).

He established major-league rookie records for home runs (10), RBI (32), extra-base hits (19) and total bases (32) through April.
