Braves Probable Pitchers

Soroka was cruising against the Phillies on Friday before his night ended early thanks to a 37-pitch fifth inning in which he recorded only two outs. Still, he allowed just one run over 4 2/3 innings and is 6-0 with a 1.19 ERA on the road.

This will be Sanchez’s fourth start this season against the Braves, after spending last season with Atlanta, and he is 2-0 with a 3.71 ERA in his first three outings against them. He has won six straight decisions since May 29.

DeSclafani is 4-2 with a 2.94 ERA over his last nine starts and is racking up strikeouts with 55 over 49 innings in that span. He credits his aggressive approach, enabled in part by his offense giving him leads that allows him to attack.

Fried cruised through the first five innings of Saturday's start in Philadelphia and then surrendered a pair of two-run homers in the sixth. He was making his first start since developing a blister during a July 15 outing in Milwaukee.

Wood made his season debut Sunday vs. the Rockies and allowed two earned runs over 4 2/3 innings, while throwing 80 pitches. His curveball was on point, with the lefty throwing it 32 times, including 25 for strikes.

Gausman hasn't found a feel for the cutter or curveball he recently attempted to develop. His two-pitch mix worked against the Nationals on July 21, but he allowed three homers on Sunday in Philadelphia.

Bauer makes his Reds debut in an ace-vs.-ace showdown with Dallas Keuchel. His most recent start at Kansas City notwithstanding, Bauer comes in hot, having allowed three or fewer runs in seven of his past 10 starts. He beat Atlanta on April 20, going 6 1/3 innings, allowing two earned runs and three hits with 10 K's.

The Braves have lost the past three games started by Keuchel, who felt he was squeezed in the upper third of the zone on Monday. The former Cy Young Award winner has allowed a season-high four earned runs in two of his past three starts.

Gray acknowledged not having his best stuff during Monday's 11-6 win over the Pirates. His streak of five straight quality starts ended, but he's still 3-1 with a 2.42 ERA over his last six games.

Teheran credits improved fastball command for the 1.48 ERA he posted in five July starts. The veteran hurler has allowed two earned runs or fewer in 14 of his past 16 starts.
