The D-backs received a flurry of encouraging injury news Sunday to coincide with their hot start in the standings.
Manager Torey Lovullo said right-hander Shelby Miller "felt good" after throwing a batting-practice session Friday and is on target to throw a bullpen session Tuesday as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery.
Third baseman Jake Lamb participated in drills Saturday without setbacks as he builds strength in the sprained AC joint in his left shoulder. He will start a throwing program Monday at Chase Field.
Outfielder Steven Souza Jr. logged four at-bats in an extended spring game and will lengthen his throwing program to 110-120 feet Monday as he rehabs a sore right pectoral muscle.
"Good progression for all these guys," Lovullo said. "Everybody's taking the next steps. I'm really excited about possibly getting a chance to see for myself [Monday]."
Lovullo said it is difficult to project when Lamb and Souza could return, but their work over the weekend was encouraging. Their returns would be an extra boost for a club that has raced to the top of the National League West standings and entered Sunday tied for the best record in MLB (19-7).
Arizona avoided an injury scare Saturday regarding lefty starter Patrick Corbin, who took a grounder off his left hand while allowing three earned runs to the Nationals over 6 2/3 innings.

Lovullo said Corbin is "feeling fine" after the ball grazed his ring finger and hit him square on the pinkie.
"I think we got lucky," Lovullo said. "He said it went numb for a moment, but after the [mound] visit and a couple pitches, he said he felt fine. That was yesterday. Today, still on the same rhythm. He feels really, really good. Luckily."
Corbin has been one of the NL's biggest April breakouts, going 4-0 with a 2.25 ERA with 55 strikeouts over 40 innings.
