Felnin Celesten cannot be stopped in recent weeks.
The Mariners’ No. 7 prospect tallied three total hits to help the AquaSox sweep a doubleheader -- 9-5 and 6-2 -- from Vancouver (Blue Jays) at Rogers Field at Nat Bailey Stadium on Saturday. In doing so, the 20-year-old stretched his batting average to .341, the top mark in the High-A Northwest League by 15 points.
With hits in both legs of the doubleheader, Celesten extended his hitting streak to 21 games. He's posted 11 multihit performances within the streak, including a trio of three-hit games.
Since the streak started on April 21, Celesten rocks a slash line of .449/.537/.654. That average leads all qualified Minor League hitters in the span.
COMPLETE MARINERS PROSPECT COVERAGE
Seattle gave Celesten a franchise-record $4.7 million signing bonus at the start of the 2023 international signing period. Ranked as the No. 2 prospect in his class, Celesten first hit the ground running with a .999 OPS in 32 games at the Arizona Complex League in 2024. Last season, his first in full-season affiliate ball, his production leveled out when he hit .273 with a .721 OPS, including a rocky 11-game stint with Everett.
But the 20-year-old has done a complete 180-degree turn to open this year.
Celesten remains on a path back to Top 100 status, which he held entering the 2025 (No. 74). The elevation of his offensive abilities will be a welcome sign for the Mariners, who already boasted one of MLB's top farm systems entering the season.
