Mariners announce new premium fan amenities coming to T-Mobile Park for 2023 season

New Press Club and expansion of the Diamond Club will both be completed in time for 2023 season and MLB All-Star Game

April 13th, 2022

The Seattle Mariners today announced plans for a new premium club and major renovations to the existing T-Mobile Park Diamond Club, both to be completed for the start of the 2023 season when Seattle and the Mariners will host the Major League Baseball All-Star Week in July.

The projects are part of the Mariners on-going commitment to maintain and improve T-Mobile Park so that it remains a first-class facility and is among the Top 10 ballparks in MLB in terms of condition and fan amenities, which is expected to cost the Mariners over $100 million during the first decade of the current lease.

“We have spent the last 20-plus years maintaining and upgrading T-Mobile Park so it remains a first-class facility. Over the last few years, we focused on improvements that are accessible for all fans including the T-Mobile ‘Pen, creating the Rooftop Boardwalk, Trident Deck and Kids Corner, and expanding the Left Field Gate to improve access to the ballpark,” said Catie Griggs, Seattle Mariners President of Business Operations. “We are now focusing on over-due improvements to the premium guest experience. By updating and expanding the Diamond Club and creating the new Press Club, we are responding to our fans’ requests, and we are meeting our lease obligation to ensure our premium offerings keep pace with what is available in the Seattle market and in professional sports in general.”

The budget for these projects is approximately $55 million. The cost is being paid by the Mariners and will not receive any revenues from the King County Lodging Tax.

“The PFD Board of Directors couldn’t be happier with this news. The Mariners have done an excellent job of ensuring access and affordability of tickets and concessions. With the renovation of the Diamond Club and creation of the Press Club, they further ensure that T-Mobile Park remains one of the top-tier ballparks in the nation – further protecting the public’s investment in the facility. This is the vision that both the Mariners and PFD Board shared when signing the new lease, and we’re heartened that it continues to be the guiding principle for these improvements,” said Stacy Graven, Board Chair of the Washington State Major League Baseball Stadium Public Facilities District.

Press Club

The existing press box, which is located directly behind home plate below the Dave Niehaus Broadcast Center, will be converted into a premium club with capacity for over 200 guests with interior and exterior seating.

The most distinguishing feature of the club will be its spectacular view of the field, a view that is unparalleled at T-Mobile Park. The club will feature a modern, fresh décor to appeal to fans looking for a unique social experience at the game. Soft seating zones and playful lighting will add texture to the club’s overall character. A large, signature bar anchors the space with creative cocktails, award-winning Northwest wines and T-Mobile Park’s celebrated variety of craft and premium beers. Guests will dine on farm-to-table inspired dishes prepared to order by top chefs for Sodexo Live!, the Mariners hospitality partner, as well as guest chefs from some of Seattle’s best restaurants. Grab-and-go snacks and traditional ballpark fare will round out the food and beverage experience.

Diamond Club Expansion

The Diamond Club, T-Mobile Park’s original all-inclusive premium experience, will undergo a major expansion and the first extensive refresh of the interior space since the ballpark opened in 1999. The new footprint will encompass 13,000 square feet, including a new kitchen and restrooms, to more easily accommodate the 400 Diamond Club members who are seated in the first eight rows behind home plate.

The design of the Diamond Club embraces the legacy and tradition of the Mariners history with rich wood tones and classic finishes that evoke the atmosphere of a timeless whiskey bar. A signature wood ceiling, faceted like a diamond, and dramatic lighting enhance the experience. A full service bar will occupy an entire wall, backed by an 11ft-by-20ft LED TV, so large it practically immerses guests in the game on the field. Diamond Club members will have the choice of a variety of premium offerings from Sodexo Live!, including farm-to-table main dishes and sides, made-to-order ice cream sundaes and house-made waffle cones, espresso, specialty desserts and grab-and-go ballpark fare. In addition to the full-service bar and buffet meal service, guests will continue to have access to in-seat service for food and beverages in exterior seats.

Both the Diamond Club and Press Club will be available to book for special events on non-game days.

Fans can find more information about both Clubs and how to secure priority access for the 2023 season at Mariners.com/Premium.

Working Press Box

The working press box will be relocated to the Terrace Club Level next to the Dave Niehaus Broadcast Center. The location maintains excellent sightlines for members of the media covering Mariners games. Terrace Club seating capacity will be reduced by 104 seats to make way for the new press box. While the Press Club won’t open until 2023, the relocated press box will open mid-way through the 2022 season to allow for interior construction of the Press Club to get underway in earnest.

Project Budget

The budget for these capital projects is approximately $55 million. The cost is being paid by the Mariners and will not receive any revenues from the King County Lodging Tax, a portion of which has been earmarked for long-term capital needs at T-Mobile Park. The Mariners are obligated under the current lease to make significant capital upgrades to the ballpark to ensure it remains in first-class condition both physically and in terms of fan amenities. Over the first decade of the lease, the Mariners will spend approximately $100 million on capital upgrades at T-Mobile Park. This is in addition to the tens of millions the Mariners spend each year to maintain and operate the ballpark as a first-class facility.

Workforce Opportunity

The Mariners are committed to provide workforce opportunities for union workers performing ballpark major capital projects. This includes a commitment by the Mariners to support training and apprenticeship programs for women and people of color in the construction trades.
