Mariners focus on health & safety measures to keep fans safe at T-Mobile Park

Safety Ambassadors, expert medical advisors, reduced touchpoints and latest technology among best practices to provide safe fan experience at ballpark

March 30th, 2021

The Seattle Mariners have been preparing for the return of fans to T-Mobile Park for the last several months. Guided by public health and medical experts, a series of protocols have been developed to provide fans with a safe experience at the ballpark. Strategies include the use of the latest technologies including electrostatic sprayers, UV-C light, disinfection verification through fluorescent markers and EPA-approved disinfection products proven to be effective against the virus that causes COVID-19.

Enhanced Cleaning

T-Mobile Park’s infectious disease prevention practices utilize certified products and the latest technology to target suspected or known presence of COVID-19. Enhanced cleaning protocols were developed by the Mariners housekeeping partner ABM, a world leader in the field of industrial hygiene. ABM’s enhanced cleaning protocols are based on guidance from board certified experts in infectious disease and industrial sanitation.

The Mariners have received Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) STAR™ Facility certification for T-Mobile Park, a performance-based outbreak prevention, response and recovery accreditation for mitigating risks associated with the virus responsible for COVID-19.

Enhanced efforts include:

  • Daily cleaning and disinfection of the entire facility, with particular attention paid to high traffic touch points such as handles, common areas, elevators, restrooms, etc., using EPA approved disinfectant products.
  • Use of electrostatic sprayers to apply an electrically charged, broad spectrum disinfecting solution that is formulated to target suspected or known presence of COVID-19 but is non-toxic to humans.
  • Use of UV-C light to eliminate the threat of bacteria, viruses, mold spores and allergy-inducing microorganisms found on everyday items.
  • Disinfection/cleaning verification via Glo Germ, an evidence-based surface disinfection and cleaning verification program that uses fluorescent markers to detect the presence of biological contaminants and pathogens.
  • Ionized air purification system in clubhouses and other indoor spaces to reduce outdoor air intake and kill pathogens.

Safety Ambassadors

Every T-Mobile Park Game Day employee is trained to enforce compliance with COVID-19 policies. In addition, a team of Safety Ambassadors will rove T-Mobile Park on game days to assist fans with questions about ballpark protocols and serve as a point of contact for anyone concerned about non-compliance with such policies as mandatory masks or social distancing guidelines. Team members are trained to watch for violations and proactively intervene to enforce policies in a non-confrontational way. Safety Ambassadors will be outfitted in fluorescent yellow vests to make them easy to spot for fans in need of assistance.

Concessions Health & Safety Protocols

The Seattle Mariners hospitality partner Centerplate is introducing a comprehensive approach to safely serve fans the high quality, local flavors they’ve come to expect at T-Mobile Park. New protocols include:

  • Daily health screenings for all employees;
  • PPE, including double masks;
  • Plexiglas protective barriers;
  • Frequent cleaning and disinfection of food service equipment;
  • Surfaces wiped down with disinfectant solution after every contact.

Prepackaged Items – Menu selections have been updated to focus on individually packaged items and Grab & Go options such as those available at the Pepsi Fan Deck and AM/PM, both located on the Main Level.

Cashless – All transactions are cashless. A newly installed point-of-sale system makes it quick, easy and safe to use debit, credit or mobile payments like Apple Pay and Google Pay at all concessions stands. Guests can easily convert cash to prepaid debit cards at kiosks around the ballpark. Cards never expire and can be used at any location inside or outside T-Mobile Park that accepts debit or credit cards.
