WASHINGTON -- CJ Abrams was scratched from the Nationals’ starting lineup ahead of Monday’s finale of a four-game series against the Marlins.
The 25-year-old, who made his long-awaited debut at second base in Sunday’s 6-2 loss, was scratched with back tightness, the team announced about an hour before first pitch. He was originally slotted to lead off and play shortstop.
In Abrams’ place, Nasim Nuñez started at shortstop and batted eighth, while recently named National League Player of the Week Daylen Lile hit leadoff.
Abrams is in the midst of a career season offensively, hitting .267 with 29 home runs, 92 RBIs and an .849 OPS.
