Mariners-Nats postponed; split DH set for Wednesday

Gray to oppose Flexen in Game 1, Fedde pushed to nightcap vs. Milone or opener

July 13th, 2022

WASHINGTON -- The Nationals’ series opener against the Mariners on Tuesday night at Nationals Park was postponed because of severe weather. The game will be played as part of a split doubleheader on Wednesday.

First pitch of Game 1 will be at the originally scheduled time of 12:05 p.m. ET, and Game 2 is slated to begin at 6:05 p.m. ET.

Right-hander Josiah Gray, who was tabbed to start on Tuesday, will get the nod in Game 1. He is looking to continue the momentum of a career-high 11 strikeouts against the Phillies in his last start. Gray will face Seattle right-hander Chris Flexen.

Righty will be pushed back from the afternoon game to start in the evening contest. Wednesday marks his first career appearance facing Seattle. Fedde will be matched up against either left-hander Tommy Milone or an opener.

This week is the Mariners’ first trip to Nats Park since May 23-25, 2017.
