Nice catch, Prez! Rays president of baseball ops Neander snags foul ball, gives to young fan

A familiar face caught a foul ball during the Tigers-Rays game at Tropicana Field on Monday.

Rays president of baseball operations Erik Neander snagged a foul ball in the ninth inning off the bat of Tampa Bay’s Ryan Vilade. Sitting in the front row of one of the boxes behind home plate, Neander made a nifty one-handed grab, much to the amusement of the Rays’ TV broadcast.

After making the grab, Neander found a young Rays fan to give the ball to, wrapping up a memorable sequence for Tampa Bay’s top front office executive. And despite the Rays’ 10-9 loss against the Tigers, Neander should be feeling pretty good about Tampa Bay boasting an AL-best 36-21 record.
