CINCINNATI -- Three Baltimore greats will be honored this summer as outfielder Nick Markakis, slugger and hitting coach Terry Crowley and scout Dick Bowie were elected to the Orioles Hall of Fame.

The trio will receive an on-field ceremony before the club’s Aug. 24 game against the Astros. With their induction, the Orioles Hall of Fame, which was established in 1977, will grow to 85 players.

Markakis was a staple of Baltimore's lineup from 2006-14 after the O's drafted him seventh overall in 2003. The right fielder ranks among the club’s all-time leaders in several categories, including doubles (sixth, 316), hits (seventh, 1,547), runs (ninth, 749) and RBIs (10th, 658). He played at least 160 games in five of his nine seasons with the club and earned a pair of Gold Glove Awards.

Crowley is best known for spending two stints as Baltimore's hitting coach, first from 1985-89 and then again from 1999-2010, with the latter being the fourth-longest continuous coaching stretch in franchise history. Prior to coaching, he spent 12 of his 15 playing seasons with the O's, who drafted him in 1966. Crowley was the club's first designated hitter and appeared in the 1970 and ‘79 World Series with the O’s.

Bowie joins the class as the winner of the Herb Armstrong Award, given to non-uniformed Orioles personnel. He began with the O’s as a scout in 1958 -- later becoming a Mid-Atlantic supervisor -- and worked until his passing in 1981. Bowie signed more than 100 players and is known for discovering Orioles Hall of Famer Al Bumbry playing basketball at Virginia State.

This is the Orioles’ first Hall of Fame class since 2021, which included outfielder Mike Devereaux, shortstop J.J. Hardy and play-by-play broadcaster Joe Angel.
