July 7: RHP Riley O'Brien (STL) replaces Paul Skenes on NL roster
O’Brien emerged as the Cardinals’ closer during a breakout 2025 (2.06 ERA in 48 innings) and has held down that role for a surprising St. Louis squad that sits squarely in the NL playoff mix. O’Brien has saved 22 games in 26 opportunities for the Cardinals, striking out 35 in 36 1/3 innings with a 3.72 ERA this season. He takes the spot of Skenes, who drew the start on Tuesday against the Braves and is lined up to start on Sunday against the Brewers to close out the first half.
July 7: LHP Jesús Luzardo (PHI) replaces Max Meyer on NL roster
After finishing seventh in 2025 NL Cy Young balloting in his first season following a trade to the Phillies, Luzardo has made the All-Star team for the first time in his eight-year career. He has struck out 125 in 103 1/3 innings with a 3.75 ERA, including a 2.26 ERA in his past 10 starts. Meyer, who started Tuesday’s series opener against the Mariners at loanDepot park, is in line to start Sunday’s first-half finale against the Guardians, which would make him unavailable for the All-Star Game.
July 7: RHP Braxton Ashcraft (PIT) replaces Jacob Misiorowski (MIL) on NL roster
Ashcraft has built on his impressive rookie season with a standout 2026, owning a 3.24 ERA in 18 starts with 122 strikeouts in 108 1/3 innings. A little more than a year after making his debut in May 2025, the Pirates right-hander has made the All-Star Game for the first time. Lined up to pitch on Sunday after earning the win over the Cardinals in Game 1 of Tuesday’s doubleheader, Misiorowski had been unlikely to pitch in the Midsummer Classic. With a 1.62 ERA and 167 K’s in 111 innings, the flamethrowing phenom is the NL Cy Young Award favorite.
July 7: 1B Willson Contreras (BOS) replaces Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (TOR) on AL roster
Contreras is having arguably the best season of his career. With 20 homers, he appears certain to pass his career high of 24. Meanwhile, his .920 OPS would be a career high and ranks third among AL first basemen, while his .284 average entering Tuesday was best among that group. Guerrero earned his sixth career selection when he was elected as a starter by the fan vote, but said he would decline his selection so he can go home to Tampa, Fla., and take the four days to rest his ailing lower back. Nick Kurtz (ATH) will start at first base for the AL.
