PHILADELPHIA -- Another day, another early exit for a Phillies player.

On Sunday, it was 's turn, as the second baseman was replaced in the top of the eighth after suffering a right foot contusion. Stott suffered the injury when he fouled a ball off the side of his foot in the sixth inning, but he stayed in the game through the seventh before being lifted.

“That was the best I've ever gotten a foul ball on my foot,” Stott said following the Phillies' 6-4 comeback win over the Cardinals at Citizens Bank Park. “I think I rolled it, which made it worse. That one didn't feel good.”

X-rays on Stott’s foot were negative.

“We’ll see how he wakes up [Monday] morning,” interim manager Don Mattingly said. “I kind of expect him to be in there. Honestly, a lot of the foot things, if it's not a fracture, it bounces back decent; there’s not a lot of area to get swollen up in there.”

“I want to be in there, and I think I'm going to be in there,” Stott said. “If the trainers say that I can't, then I won't.”

Luis Arraez, who left Saturday’s game with cramping in his hamstring, replaced Stott in the eighth. Arraez was not in the starting lineup on Sunday, but Mattingly said before the game that this had been an ongoing issue for Arraez throughout his career, keeping the Phillies’ concern level very low.

Derek Hill, who left Saturday’s game with neck tightness, did not appear in Sunday’s game.
