Phillies, Pirates and PCADV rally together for #Every1KnowsSome1 cause at Seventh Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Night

Baseball community to come together to support victims and survivors of domestic violence

August 25th, 2022

With domestic violence prevalent in every community, not all are safe at home, and the Phillies, Pirates and PCADV (Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence) are hoping to provide awareness and help for those who may need it during the Seventh Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Night on Friday, August 26, at Citizens Bank Park.

As part of the evening, the teams will bring attention to this year’s PCADV campaign theme, #Every1KnowsSome1, which strives to highlight how common domestic violence is and that it is more than physical violence. Over the course of their lifetimes, one in four women and one in seven men in Pennsylvania will be victims of severe physical violence by an intimate partner.

“Since 2006, PCADV has been working in partnership with the Phillies to leverage Major League Baseball as a platform to raise awareness of domestic violence in Pennsylvania. Sports fans are important allies in violence prevention,” said PCADV Chief Philanthropic Officer Jennifer Beittel. “The Phillies have only continued to deepen their commitment to our cause and we’re so grateful to be able to rally Philadelphia’s baseball community together to support victims and survivors of domestic violence and to connect them to the help and services they need.”

“Statistically, it is likely that #Every1KnowsSome1, and the unfortunate reality is that domestic violence is a common problem,” said Phillies Executive Vice President David Buck. “It is our goal to help amplify PCADV’s message so those who are experiencing domestic violence know they are not alone. We are proud of our long-standing relationship with PCADV and their ongoing efforts of providing support and services to victims and survivors of abuse.”

**On-Field and Ballpark-Wide Awareness of #Every1KnowsSome1 **

As part of the evening, more than 350 members of local domestic violence (DV) organizations will be in attendance at that night’s 7:05 p.m. game.

In addition, leaders from local DV organizations including Congreso, Lutheran Settlement House, Women in Transition and Women Against Abuse will take the field and be recognized alongside Phillies interim manager Rob Thomson and Pirates manager Derek Shelton.

Also on-field and throughout the ballpark and broadcast, awareness will be raised on how to find help 24/7, either by contacting a local DV program by visiting PCADV.org or calling the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233).

At the entrance gates, fans will be able to get easy access to information from various DV organizations, including SAFE Berks, Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County, and Women Against Abuse (First Base Plaza) and Domestic Violence Center of Chester County, Women in Transition, and Lutheran Settlement House (Third Base Plaza).

The #Every1KnowsSome1 cause will be highlighted during a public service announcement and featured on PhanaVision and the Phillies broadcast, as well as on window and mirror decals throughout the ballpark.

Proceeds from the night’s Phillies Charities, Inc. 50/50 drawing will also benefit the cause.
