About Maxwell Malinao

Maxwell is among the 1:10-20,000 newborns diagnosed with Biliary Atresia - a rare, life-long, life threatening liver disease. This disease occurs when the bile ducts inside or outside the liver do not develop normally or becomes blocked. What causes this rare liver disease is still a mystery.

At only 12 weeks old, Maxwell reached a stable condition that allowed him to undergo surgery known as the "Kasai Procedure". This procedure serves as a temporary solution and eventually this "band-aid" will no longer work, and Maxwell will need a life-saving liver transplant.

Despite encountering many challenges and complications over his four years, with a long road still ahead, Maxwell continues to be the most spirited, loving, happy, compassionate little boy. He lives his life to the fullest, loves his people hard. Maxwell continues to prove to us over and over again how strong, resilient and brave he is everyday, continually inspiring us all.
