A new exhibit is now open at the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum presented by Dinsmore that gives fans an in-depth look at the significant role Latin America has played in the history of baseball.  

In ¡Los Rojos!: A Celebration of the Latino Impact on the Reds and Major League Baseball presented by Dinsmore, visitors to the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum can now explore the rich and complex history of baseball in Latin America and examine the unique imprint Latino players have made on the game. Since baseball was introduced to Latin America over a century and a half ago, the region has embraced the game with a fervor not seen in other places around the world and produced some of the game’s most revered icons.

“While baseball is America’s pastime, it is also most of Latin America’s as well,” said Rick Walls, Reds Hall of Fame executive director. “Visitors to the Los Rojos exhibit will see baseball from a different light as we immerse fans into Latin America culture in this exhibit unlike any other at the Reds Hall of Fame. And we’re pleased to have tapped into the expertise of Anthony Salazar from SABR to guide us down new pathways for this exhibit.” 

Throughout the exhibit, the Reds’ frequent intersections with, and influence on, the sport’s growth in Latin America are highlighted as well as great Latino stars like Tony Pérez, David Concepción, Dolf Luque and many others who have etched their names into history while wearing Reds uniforms. A total of 187 players of Latin American heritage have played for the Reds.

Also featured are over 60 artifacts associated with other clubs including greats Roberto Clemente and Mariano Rivera as well as game-used items from some of today’s Latino stars. 

The exhibit is co-curated by Anthony Salazar from the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR). Mr. Salazar chairs SABR’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee and Latino baseball committee. Additionally, he currently serves on SABR’s Editorial Board and is a past member of SABR’s national Board of Directors. 

Visitors to the exhibit will find the content presented in both English and Spanish. 

The Reds Hall of Fame & Museum presented by Dinsmore is currently open Tuesday-Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

• Admission is $12 for adults and $10 for students/seniors.

• Children 12 and under are admitted free, courtesy of the H.C.S. Foundation.

• Active military/veterans are admitted free, courtesy of the Sargent Family Foundation.

During the baseball season, the museum is open daily.
