Braves agree to terms with Aaron Harang on one-year contract
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - The Atlanta Braves have agreed to terms with free-agent right-handed pitcher Aaron Harang on a one-year Major League contract. Financial terms of the deal were not announced. Harang will wear uniform number 34.
Harang, 35, went 5-12 with a 5.40 ERA in 26 starts between the Seattle Mariners and New York Mets last season. He began 2014 spring training with the Cleveland Indians.
Over 12 Major League seasons, Harang owns a 110-116 record with a 4.28 ERA in 325 appearances (319 starts). Over the last 10 seasons (2004-13), he averaged 29 starts per year and logged at least 140 innings pitched nine times. Harang led the league in 2006 in both strikeouts (216) and wins (16). Since 2004, he ranks 10th in the majors with 1790.2 innings pitched and ninth in games started with 289.
Harang was originally selected by the Texas Rangers in the sixth round of the 1999 draft and has made Major League appearances with the Oakland Athletics, Cincinnati Reds, San Diego Padres, Los Angeles Dodgers, Seattle Mariners and New York Mets.
