PHOENIX -- Humidor? What humidor?
The D-backs smacked six home runs Friday to give starter Clay Buchholz all the support he would need in a 9-1 win over the Marlins at Chase Field.
The six homers tied the team single-game record, previously accomplished twice at home, most recently in 2012.
"I thought our approach was outstanding all night long," D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said. "We waited for the pitch that we were trying to line up and square up and we didn't miss it. That's the big difference. When you have a night like this, it's one of those things you've been waiting for for a long time."
The outburst was another sign that the D-backs' offense might be snapping out of the funk it spent most of an 8-19 May mired in.
It began Monday when they scored 12 runs against the Reds.
"I think it kind of was one of those things where hitting is contagious, but not hitting can also be contagious," infielder Daniel Descalso said. "So that first game against the Reds we scored a bunch of runs and everyone kind of relaxed a little bit knowing that we weren't going to just score one run a game forever. It's been nice to have that relaxed feeling back throughout the lineup."

Descalso got the onslaught going in the second with a two-run homer to right off Elieser Hernandez, who allowed three of the homers.
Jake Lamb hit a solo shot to start the third and David Peralta added one later in the frame.
Catcher John Ryan Murphy homered in his third straight game when he hit a two-run shot in the fifth, while Ketel Marte hit a solo shot later in the inning, his first homer since April 19.
Marte added a second homer in the ninth off Brad Ziegler, his first career multi-homer game. He also became the first D-backs player since Tony Clark in 2009 to homer from both sides of the plate in the same game.

"I think we didn't miss the mistakes tonight," Descalso said. "I think for a while there, we weren't hitting mistakes and there weren't a lot of mistakes being made against us. Tonight, I think we were ready and we got into some hitter's counts and capitalized on mistakes."
When the offense was in its funk, many pointed to the recently installed humidor as a reason. Lovullo has said he is reserving judgement until the All-Star Break.
If the D-backs continue to swing the bats well, though, it could be a non-issue by that point.
"It's been a big relief," Peralta said of the improved offense. "We've really played well the last few games and are starting to get everything together. We went through a rough May, but we're professionals and we had to keep working and find a way out of the slump we were in."

Murphy now has eight homers on the year, one for every 9.88 at-bats. That's tops in the Majors for hitters with a minimum of 75 plate appearances.

DE LA ROSA HURT
Left-handed reliever Jorge De La Rosa experienced tightness in his right Achilles tendon and was forced to leave the game with one out in the ninth. Lovullo said that De La Rosa would undergo further tests and an examination Saturday.

FIRST WIN IN A WHILE
Buchholz earned his first win since Sept. 21, 2016. The right-hander allowed one run on six hits over seven innings. In his three starts in place of the injured Robbie Ray, Buchholz has allowed one run in five, six and now seven innings.
Buchholz began the year in Triple-A with the Royals before exercising an opt-out in his contract May 1. He then signed a Minor League deal with the D-backs on May 4.

"The highlight of the night for me was Clay Buchholz going seven innings and getting the win," Lovullo said. "Just a perfect example of perseverance and what it can represent."
UP NEXT
The D-backs continue their series with the Marlins on Saturday night with ace Zack Greinke (3-4, 3.65 ERA) on the mound. Greinke has been lights out at home for the D-backs going 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA in six starts at home. With a win the D-backs can clinch their second straight home series win. They'll go up against left-hander Caleb Smith in a 7:10 p.m. MST tilt.
