D-backs reinstate Delgado from 60-day DL; designate Salas for assignment

The Arizona Diamondbacks reinstated RHP Randall Delgado from the 60-day disabled list (strained left oblique). To make room on the 40-man roster, the D-backs designated RHP Fernando Salas for assignment.

PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks reinstated RHP Randall Delgado from the 60-day disabled list (strained left oblique). To make room on the 40-man roster, the D-backs designated RHP Fernando Salas for assignment. 
 
Delgado, 28, went 1-1 with a 2.38 ERA (3 ER in 11.1 IP), .175 opponent average and 13 strikeouts in 11 rehab appearances with Single-A Advanced Visalia (June 5-11) and Triple-A Reno (June 14-July 4). 
 
He last appeared in a Major League game on July 15, 2017 after being placed on the disabled list with right elbow inflammation. In 26 games (5 starts) for the D-backs in 2017, he went 1-2 with 1 save, a 3.59 ERA (25 ER in 62.2 IP) and 60 strikeouts. The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder had 14 relief outings of 1.1+ innings (2.23 ERA), 12 of 2.0+ innings (1.84 ERA) and 5 of 3.0+ innings (2.40 ERA). 
 
Delgado has gone 28-29 with 2 saves, a 4.08 ERA (241 ER in 531.1 IP), a .251 opponent average and 460 strikeouts in 261 career games (53 starts) over parts of 7 Major League seasons with the Atlanta Braves (2011-12) and D-backs (2013-current). His 17 wins as a reliever since joining Arizona are the third most in franchise history behind Brad Ziegler (21) and Byung-Hyun Kim (20), while his 256 strikeouts in relief rank fourth behind Kim (345), Jose Valverde (331) and David Hernandez (289). 
 
Salas, 33, was 4-4 with a 4.50 ERA (20 ER in 40.0 IP), .265 opponent average and 30 strikeouts in 41 games for the D-backs this season.
