Aidan Miller is back from injury, showing off all the tools that have made him such a hyped-up prospect over the past two years. And he helped Double-A Reading clinch its first playoff berth since 2019 in just his second game back with the club.
Miller collected his first Double-A hits and RBIs of the season on Thursday, going 2-for-4 with a double as the Fightin Phils defeated Erie, 11-10, at FirstEnergy Stadium.
In a positive sign for his health, Miller legged out an infield single in the fifth inning. He then laced a two-run double to the opposite field in the sixth that, at the time, gave Reading a 9-6 lead.

The 22-year-old Miller went hitless in his Double-A debut on Tuesday, but he hammered a 109.1 mph double in his season debut with Single-A Clearwater last Saturday. These have all been overwhelmingly positive signs for the Phillies’ No. 2 prospect and MLB Pipeline’s No. 61 prospect overall, whose season was derailed by recurring back issues that required a procedure this summer.

“Just happy for him,” Phillies interim manager Don Mattingly said. “When you go through that as a player, you don't quite know why and things like that. To be able to work his way back to this point, obviously, it’s something good for the organization. But as much as anything, it’s good for the kid to be able to get back on the field.”
After entering 2026 as the Phillies’ top prospect, Miller appeared to be an option to help the big league club this season. Though that’s presumably out of the picture now, he can show his dynamic skill set through the rest of the month in the Minors and make an argument to make his MLB debut in 2027. The Phillies may also opt to get Miller extra at-bats in the Arizona Fall League this year, depending on how the next few weeks go.
