SF fan wearing his own 'C' catches Belt's HR

September 18th, 2021

A week ago, Brandon Belt took it upon himself to become the unofficial "captain" of the Giants when he sensed a leadership void despite the club owning the best record in baseball. So teammate Evan Longoria took the initiative to form a "C" on Belt's jersey using electrical tape. Crude, but it got the job done.

So did Belt, who doubled and homered while sporting the "C" on his chest in the Giants' 6-1 win over the Cubs at Wrigley Field last Friday. Belt continued to hit, entering this Friday's game against the Braves at Oracle Park batting .400 with four homers since then.

Belt smashed another homer in the first inning Friday, and this one naturally landed in the glove of a Giants fan wearing a taped "C" on his chest. Sometimes, it just happens exactly the way it's supposed to.

The fan was wearing a jersey of a Giants first baseman, though it wasn't Belt -- it was a J.T. Snow jersey. Snow belted 124 homers of his own for San Francisco from 1997-2005.

But that doesn't diminish the incredible coincidence. That'll be on Giants highlight reels for a long time.
