Team to watch
Several of the players who led San Jose to a 76-44 record and a Low-A West championship a year ago are reunited in High-A Eugene, including all three of San Francisco's Top 100 Prospects in the Minors: shortstop Marco Luciano, outfielder Luis Matos and left-hander Kyle Harrison. The Emeralds also feature several more of the system's top position players in outfielders Jairo Pomares and Hunter Bishop, catcher Patrick Bailey and third baseman Casey Schmitt, as well as live-armed right-hander Randy Rodriguez.

New faces
The Giants gave seven-figure bonuses to three pitchers in the 2022 Draft -- Will Bednar, Matt Mikulski, Eric Silva -- and limited them to a combined total of 10 pro innings last summer. They'll turn all three loose at Single-A San Jose. Advanced for his age, 17-year-old Bahamian shortstop Ryan Reckley could make his pro debut in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League this summer.

On the shelf
Right-hander Ryan Murphy was ticketed for Double-A Richmond but back issues will sideline him for a couple of weeks. Righty Carson Ragsdale is recovering from offseason surgery to alleviate thoracic outlet syndrome.
