Attended the Davie County High School in Mocksville, N.C., the same school as Major Leaguer Whit Merrifield...Whisenhunt was the sixth player ever to be drafted after attending Davie; two of the previous five have reached the Majors (Merrifield and RHP Jeremy Walker, who pitched with Atlanta in 2019 and in the Giants' system in 2022)...His mom, Mandi, was his first call when he found out he was being called up by the Giants for his MLB debut...His dad, Dennis, was in the Philippines, so Mandi called Dennis and woke him up at 2:30 a.m. local time to get him to fly to San Francisco for Whisenhunt's debut...Wears uniform No. 88 with the Giants. He chose 88 because it’s his aunt’s birthday, his dad’s football jersey number and the year his mom graduated high school.

Made five starts for the Giants late in the season, going 2-1 with a 5.01 ERA (13 ER, 23.1 IP), 16 strikeouts and a 1.46 WHIP...Was 9-5 with a 4.43 ERA (53 ER, 107.2 IP) in 21 Triple-A starts...Struck out 95 and had a 1.37 WHIP...Ranked among the PCL leaders in wins (nine, tied for third), strikeouts (95, 11th), starts (21, 13th) and innings (107.2, 13th)...Finished the season as SF’s top pitching prospect, ranking as the team’s No. 4 prospect on Baseball America and No. 7 on MLB Pipeline...Was named a Triple-A PCL All-Star, as well as the league’s Pitcher of the Year...Had his contract selected from Triple-A on July 28...Made his MLB debut that night vs. Pittsburgh, pitching five innings with three strikeouts and four runs allowed on five hits and two walks...Earned his first career win on Aug. 3 at New York-NL…Allowed two runs (one earned) while striking out four in 5.1 innings...Optioned to Triple-A on Aug. 12...Recalled on Aug. 22...Made two more starts before being placed on the 15-day IL on Aug. 31 (retro to Aug. 28) with a season-ending back strain.

Spent his entire campaign at Triple-A Sacramento except for a two-start rehab assignment at Single-A San Jose...Made 25 starts for the River Cats, going 3-5 with a 5.42 ERA...Had a 1.61 WHIP and allowed 14 homers...opposing hitters batted .280 off him in the PCL. Struck out 135 batters while posting a 11.61 K/9 ratio...His 135 strikeouts were seventh-most in all of Triple-A...Nearly doubled his innings total from his 2023 campaign...Whisenhunt threw 109.2 innings in 2024, a professional career high, after throwing 58.2 innings in 2023...Fared much better at home in Triple-A, logging a 2.56 ERA (15 ER, 52.2 IP) with a 1.33 WHIP in 12 home starts at Sutter Health Park...Struck out 73, walked 26 and held opposing hitters to a .229 average...On the road, however, he had an 8.31 ERA (48 ER, 52.0 IP) with a 1.90 WHIP in 13 starts...Opponents hit .323 off him on the road....Missed a few weeks in late July and early August on the seven-day IL with right ankle inflammation...Twelve of his 14 homers allowed came to right-handed batters...Limited lefties to a .222 average but a .714 OPS at Triple-A...Righties hit .297 off him with an .866 OPS...Enjoyed his most consistent stretch of the year after returning from the IL in mid-August...Over his final six starts with the River Cats, he logged a 4.23 ERA (13 ER, 27.2 IP), struck out 33 batters and walked 10...Participated in his first Major League Spring Training but did not appear in any Cactus League games.

Worked through three levels in 2023, beginning at Single-A San Jose before ending his season at Double-A Richmond. Named NWL Pitcher on the Month in May, posting a 1.69 ERA (4er, 21.1ip), 30 strikeouts and a 0.75 WHIP in five starts for High-A Eugene. Worked 1.0 scoreless inning in the SiriusXM Futures Game and struck out two, including No. 1 overall prospect Jackson Holliday. Missed the final two months of the season with a left elbow sprain.
2022
Pitched for Scottsdale of the Arizona Fall League following the season and went 0-1 with a 2.84 ERA and 11 strikeouts in three starts (6.1 IP).
