Dating back to 1920, when RBIs became an official statistic, no player had ever gone a perfect 6-for-6 with three home runs and 10 RBIs in a game … until Sunday. Now, Anthony Rendon is in a league of his own.
The Nationals' third baseman became the first player to accomplish the feat with a historic day at the dish in Washington's 23-5 win over the Mets on Sunday afternoon at Nationals Park. Only Walker Cooper had ever collected six hits with three homers and 10 RBIs in the same game, but the Reds catcher made an out, going 6-for-7, while terrorizing Cubs pitching on July 6, 1949.
Rendon drove in two runs with a single in the first inning; hit a solo home run in the third; crushed a three-run bomb in the fourth; cleared the bases with a double in the fifth; singled again in the seventh; and capped off his day with a laser shot off Mets' catcher-turned-pitcher Kevin Plawecki in the eighth.

The 26-year-old fell just shy of his fourth home run and 11th RBI of the game when his double clanged off the top of the out-of-town scoreboard in right-center field. It was one of the finest hitting displays the game has ever seen.

• Rendon's 10 runs batted in are a Nationals/Expos franchise record.
• Rendon is the third player in history with six hits and 10 RBIs along with the aforementioned Cooper and the St. Louis Cardinals' Jim Bottomley in 1924. Bottomley set a record with 12 RBIs in that game, which the Cardinals' Mark Whiten tied in 1993.

• Rendon is the first player since the Angels' Garrett Anderson to drive in 10 runs in a game, which Anderson did on Aug. 27, 2007. Rendon is the first National League player with 10 RBIs in a contest since Whiten.
• The three-homer game is the fifth in Nationals history as Rendon joins Bryce Harper (May 6, 2015), Ryan Zimmerman (May 29, 2013), Adam Dunn (July 7, 2010) and Alfonso Soriano (April 21, 2006).

• Rendon's previous career high for RBIs in a game was four, which he had done four times before. Sunday's contest was the first multi-homer game of his career and the first six-hit game of his career.
• Four other players in Nationals/Expos franchise history had plated eight runs in a game: Chris Speier (Sept. 22, 1982), Andre Dawson (Sept. 24, 1985) and Tim Wallach (May 13, 1990) did it as Expos, while Josh Willingham did it with the Nats on July 27, 2009.
• Rendon's three home runs and three-run double were all "barrels," per Statcast™, making him the first Nationals player in the Statcast™ era with four of those connections in a game.

• When Rendon plated teammate Bryce Harper with his double, Harper scored his 31st run of the season. Harper finished the game with four runs scored, bringing his total to 32 for April, surpassing the Major League record (29) set by Larry Walker in 1997.
• The Nationals tied a team record (since 2005) for hits in a game, with 23, and set a franchise record for runs in a game, with 23. The club also set a Nationals record for home runs in a game, with seven.
