Lind joins ranks of Nationals' free agents

is a free agent, as his mutual option was declined, according to the Major League Baseball Players Association.
Lind, who played left field and first base for the Nationals last season, was perhaps the team's best pinch-hitter. He had a $5 million mutual option with a $500,000 buyout.

Lind, 34, had a big bounce-back season with 14 home runs in 301 plate appearances while slashing .303/.362/.513. His 2017 slugging percentage was a best for him over the last eight seasons. Lind signed with the Nationals for $1 million after Spring Training began.
The move brings the Nationals' free-agent total to 12, which is the highest amount for any team. Lind will join other key free agents -- Matt Albers, , , and -- on the open market.
