Nationals offer experiences in charity auction

LAS VEGAS -- Nationals fans will have the chance to win some memorable experiences during the 2018 Winter Meetings Charity Auction. This year's auction, which includes items from all 30 MLB clubs, will benefit the Jackie Robinson Foundation and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City.
Here are some of the Nationals' items up for bidding:

• A hitting lesson and batting practice experience with Nats hitting coach Kevin Long. The winning bidder will swing by Nationals Park on a mutually agreed upon afternoon for a 30-minute hitting lesson in the cage with Long. They will return to Nationals Park that evening, where the winning bidder and three guests will view batting practice from the field prior to the game and stick around with four complimentary tickets that evening. Following the game, the winner and guests will be invited to attend manager Dave Martinez's postgame press conference.
• A media member for the day. One lucky winner will receive access to Martinez's pregame press conference, access to the field during batting practice, a seat in the press box during the game and access to Martinez's postgame press conference. The Nationals communications department will provide a tour of the press box and broadcast booths, as well as meet-and-greet opportunities with broadcasters and members of the local media. The winning bidder must abide by the long-standing rule of no cheering in the press box.
• A grounds crew experience. The winning bidder will become an honorary member of the Nationals' grounds crew. Tag along with director of field operations John Turnour and his staff as they prepare the field during the hour leading up to the game. The package includes four game tickets and four batting practice passes for the winner and three guests.
The auction is live on MLB.com/wintermeetingsauction from now through Thursday, when it will conclude at 10 p.m. ET. Items include special baseball experiences, including meetings with some of the game's biggest stars, along with unique items donated by MLB and the 30 clubs.
