Nationals reinstate Ryan Madson

The Washington Nationals reinstated right-handed pitcher Ryan Madson from the 10-day disabled list and placed right-handed pitcher Kelvin Herrera on the 10-day disabled list with a torn Lisfranc ligament in his left foot on Monday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

The Washington Nationals reinstated right-handed pitcher Ryan Madson from the 10-day disabled list and placed right-handed pitcher Kelvin Herrera on the 10-day disabled list with a torn Lisfranc ligament in his left foot on Monday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.
Madson, 37, returns to the active roster after being placed on the 10-day disabled list on Aug. 14 (retroactive to Aug. 13) with lumbar nerve root irritation. Prior to his outing on Aug. 12 at Chicago, Madson had allowed just two earned runs in 11.1 innings (1.59 ERA) spanning 12 outings from July 10 to Aug. 9.
Herrera, 28, is 1-2 with three saves and a 4.34 ERA in 21 games with the Nationals.
