NBC10 and Telemundo62 First Alert team host Citizens Weather Education Day

What better time to talk about the weather than during a heat wave?

The Phillies were joined by the First Alert weather team at NBC10 and Telemundo62 for Citizens Weather Education Day, before Wednesday’s game at Citizens Bank Park. Thousands of students in attendance enjoyed an educational presentation about the science behind the weather, including storms, fronts and even tornadoes. They also talked about how the weather can affect a game - like how a baseball travels farther in warmer weather.

As part of the program, special guest and Phillies pitcher Tanner Banks joined the First Alert team to help answer some burning student questions about baseball and the weather - including if he’s afraid of being struck by lightning on the field. He also showed off some of his pitching grips.
