NEW YORK -- Corey Kluber is expected to miss a minimum of two months after an MRI revealed a strain of the subscapular muscle of his right shoulder, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said on Wednesday.

Kluber will be shut down for at least four weeks without throwing, then he would likely need that same period of time to build back up, placing his best-case return in late July. Kluber, who pitched a no-hitter one week ago in Texas, lasted only three innings against the Blue Jays on Tuesday. The righty was placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to Wednesday.

"It's tough news to get, considering how well he's throwing the ball and all he's been through to get back," Boone said. "Hopefully we can start the recovery process for him and have him back in our rotation sooner rather than later."

Additionally, first baseman Luke Voit has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 strain of his right oblique and was placed on the injured list. Voit's season debut was delayed as he recovered from left knee surgery performed in late March. The club also recalled outfielder Estevan Florial and right-hander Albert Abreu from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Boone said that Voit first experienced the oblique issue on Saturday against the White Sox. Voit told team staff after Tuesday's game that he "just felt like he couldn't really let it go how he wanted to," according to Boone.

"He’s frustrated,” Boone said. “He’s had such success with the knee, so to have a setback that’s going to land him on the IL … hopefully it’s not something that keeps him down too long.”

With Voit out, Boone said that he plans to mix and match between Mike Ford, DJ LeMahieu and perhaps Miguel Andújar at first base.

Kluber is being sent for another MRI, this one an arthrogram involving dye injection, to determine if there are other injuries present. Kluber was limited to one inning last year with the Rangers because of a Grade 2 tear to the teres major muscle in his pitching shoulder, an injury that did not require surgery.

Right-hander Deivi García will be promoted from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take Kluber’s place in the rotation this weekend in Detroit. Boone said that the Yankees were already considering promoting García to provide a break for their starting pitchers.

The club’s No. 3 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, García has pitched to a 1-0 record with a 5.17 ERA in four Triple-A starts this year. He made a spot start on April 26 against Baltimore, taking a loss after allowing two runs in four innings. Boone also said that right-hander Michael King could play a role.

“Next man up,” Boone said. “Those are valuable innings we’ve got to make up for. We’ll find a way to do that.”
