A's release Brandon Moss

The Oakland A's released Brandon Moss, the club announced today. Moss was designated for assignment on Sunday when the A's claimed left-handed pitcher Jairo Labourt off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds.

MESA, Ariz. -- The Oakland A's released Brandon Moss, the club announced today. Moss was designated for assignment on Sunday when the A's claimed left-handed pitcher Jairo Labourt off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds.
Moss was acquired from Kansas City Jan. 29 with Ryan Buchter for Jesse Hahn and Heath Fillmyer and was 4-for-10 (.400) with two walks in four games this spring. He batted .207 with 22 home runs and 50 RBI in 118 games with the Royals in 2017. Moss hit all of his home runs as a designated hitter to rank fifth in the American League as a DH, and also made five starts at first base, three in left field and one in right field. The 34-year-old left-handed hitter is a .237 career hitter with 160 home runs and 473 RBI in 1016 games in 11 seasons with Boston (2007-08), Pittsburgh (2008-10), Philadelphia (2011), Oakland (2012-14), Cleveland (2015), St. Louis (2015-16) and Kansas City (2017).
