MESA, Ariz. -- Khris Davis' bases-clearing double highlighted a six-run second inning that carried the A's to a commanding 9-4 split-squad victory over the Rockies in their home opener at Hohokam Stadium on Friday.
Davis, acquired by the A's from the Brewers for a pair of prospects last month, finished 1-for-2 from the fifth spot in the lineup in his first exhibition game in green and gold. Second baseman Jed Lowrie, reunited with the A's this winter in a trade with the Astros, singled in his first game back with the club.
Oakland's top pitching prospect, Sean Manaea, also turned in a strong performance in his first spring outing, striking out four batters in two innings. Manaea allowed one hit in that span, walking one.
"I was happy with it," Manaea said. "I was pretty nervous going in. As soon as I stepped on the game mound, looked down at the rubber and looked up, I thought, 'Wow, this is real.' First time pitching in front of Oakland fans, so that was pretty cool."
Right-hander Shane Carle started for Colorado, yielding four runs on four hits with two walks and one strikeout in 1 2/3 innings.
Rockies outfielder Gerardo Parra drove in a run off A's lefty Sean Doolittle in the third, singling home Cristhian Adames. Doolittle surrendered a total of three hits in his first appearance of the spring campaign, fanning one.
The A's No. 1 overall prospect, Franklin Barreto, homered in his first Spring Training plate appearance.

Up next for the A's: Left-hander Rich Hill, signed by the A's to a one-year, $6 million deal this winter, will be making his Cactus League debut Saturday in a home start against the Brewers at Hohokam Stadium, with first pitch scheduled for 12:05 p.m. PT. Up next for the Rockies: Right-hander Tyler Chatwood, who hasn't appeared in a Major League game since April 29, 2014 -- before undergoing Tommy John surgery -- will start against the Padres at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick on Saturday at 1:10 p.m. MT. Lefty Yohan Flande, a spot-starter last season, also is scheduled. Shortstop candidate Trevor Story, who homered Thursday against the D-backs, will start and bat second.
