Oakland A’s to host 18 wish kids during Make-A-Wish Night on Saturday

A’s Khris Davis will sign autographs before the game for fans who donate to Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s will host 18 wish kids from Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area at the Oakland Coliseum on Saturday, June 15, as part of the team’s second annual Make-A-Wish Night. A’s designated hitter Khris Davis will also host a pregame autograph session for fans who donate to Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area.

The wish kids will watch batting practice before the 6:07 p.m. game versus the Mariners, join A’s players on the field for the national anthem, ride in Stomper’s car, serve as a guest PA announcer, and steal a base during the game. Wish kid Anthony Slocumb, one of last year’s attendees, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Beginning at 4:30 p.m., Khris Davis will sign autographs on the patio above Championship Plaza for fans who make a $40 donation. A limited amount of KD2 T-shirts will also be available at the Community Corner behind Section 218 for $20. All proceeds from both fundraisers will benefit Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area.

“We are extremely excited to host our second annual Make-A-Wish Night at the Coliseum and bring smiles to these courageous kids and their families,” said Catherine Aker, Oakland A’s vice president of Communications and Community. “Last year, we saw what this night is all about as we witnessed the incredibly special bond formed between slugger Khris Davis and wish kid Anthony, and we look forward to another night to remember on Saturday.”

During last year’s Make-A-Wish Day at the Coliseum, A’s designated hitter Khris Davis met Anthony Slocumb, a 10-year-old in remission from a rare type of cancer. During batting practice, Slocumb signed the back of Davis’ jersey; Davis went on to hit a home run during the game versus the Texas Rangers, with Slocumb’s signature on his back. Slocumb returned for a game earlier this season and also attended Davis’ contract extension press conference in April.
