A's claim RHP Michael Feliz off waivers from Boston

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s have claimed right-handed pitcher Michael Feliz off waivers from the Boston Red Sox, the club announced today. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster the A’s have designated catcher Aramis Garcia for assignment.

Feliz has pitched for three teams this year and has a save, a 7.32 ERA and .309 opponent batting average in 20 relief appearances. He was on the Opening Day roster for Pittsburgh, was claimed off waivers by Cincinnati on May 14, released by the Reds on Aug. 25 and signed by Boston to a minor league contract on Aug. 28 before being called up by the Red Sox on Sept. 6. The 28-year-old right-hander is 17-9 with a 5.33 ERA in 226 career appearances in seven seasons in the majors.

Garcia was on the A’s Opening Day roster and was batting .205 with three home runs and seven RBI in 32 games before he was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on July 31 following the acquisition of Yan Gomes. He was hitting .268 with two home runs and 15 RBI in 30 games with the Aviators.
