Brewers make three selections on day one of First-Year Player Draft

Team selects SS Brice Turang, OF Joe Gray and OF Micah Bello

The Milwaukee Brewers made three selections during day one of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft. The team selected shortstop Brice Turang (Santiago High School, California), outfielder Joe Gray (Hattiesburg High School, Mississippi) and outfielder Micah Bello (Hilo High School, Hawaii) with the 21st, 60th and 73rd picks, respectively. The announcements were made by Director - Amateur Scouting Tod Johnson.

Turang, 18, batted .352 with 5 HR, 21 RBI and a .464 OBP during his senior season at Santiago (CA) High School. The left-handed hitter was scouted by Area Scout Wynn Pelzer and Regional Supervisor Josh Belovsky. He is committed to play at Louisiana State University.
 
Gray, a right-handed outfielder, hit .491 with 6 HR, 36 RBI and a .611 OBP as a senior at Hattiesburg (MS) High School. The 18-year-old outfielder is currently committed to play at the University of Mississippi. He was scouted by Area Scout Scott Nichols.

The draft, which is comprised of 40 rounds, will continue on Tuesday at noon CT for rounds 3-10, and will conclude on Wednesday for rounds 11-40 beginning at 11:00 a.m. CT.
