Goldy homers in 2nd straight game

June 16th, 2018

PHOENIX -- The hitting clinic continued Friday night at Chase Field as the D-backs first baseman added to his torrid pace at the plate with a first-inning homer in Arizona's 7-3 win over the Mets.
The homer extended Goldschmidt's hitting streak to 11 games, but it hasn't been singles that he's collected.
Over the 11 games he has six doubles, a triple and six home runs.
Goldschmidt, who went 3 for 5 in Friday's win, started the season in an uncharacteristic cold spell, which bottomed out when he was hitting .198 after the May 22 game against the Brewers.
From May 23 through Thursday night's game, Goldschmidt hit .395 with eight homers.
Not coincidentally, the D-backs' fortunes have picked up along with Goldschmidt in June. They were 10-3 before Friday after an 8-19 May.
"I think Goldy is obviously the big catalyst for us here in the middle of this little run that we're on and everybody has kind of jumped on board with him," D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said before Friday's game.
