Congratulations to San Francisco Giants shortstop Willy Adames on being selected as the recipient of the 2025 Willie Mac Award.
The Willie Mac Award is annually awarded to the most inspirational player on the team, as voted upon by Giants players, coaches, trainers, clubhouse staff and the fans. This season marks the 45th anniversary of the award, which was established in 1980, in honor of legend and Hall of Famer Willie McCovey. “Competitive Spirit, Ability and Leadership” are engraved on the plaque that celebrates McCovey and now Adames.
On and off the field, Adames leads with integrity and passion, setting the standard for excellence and uniting those around him. His hustle and heart are contagious - inspiring teammates and fans alike.
The native of Santiago, Dominican Republic, Adames leads the club in nearly every offensive category entering play today, including games played (157), runs (91), home runs (28), RBI (84), walks (79) and stolen bases (12). Adames’ 28 home runs are the most by a Giants right-handed batter since Jeff Kent had 37 home runs in 2002.
