San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey underwent surgery on his right hip to address his hip impingement and repair a torn labrum, the club announced Monday.

The procedure was performed by Dr. Marc Philippon at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado. Posey is resting comfortably and is expected to return to the Bay Area later this week where he'll begin his rehabilitation.
