SAN DIEGO -- Giants third baseman Evan Longoria departed Saturday night's 3-2 win over the Padres in the sixth inning after fouling a ball off his left calf, but manager Bruce Bochy said the injury does not appear to be serious.

Longoria developed some soreness in his leg and came out of the game shortly after delivering an RBI single off San Diego reliever Robert Stock to extend the Giants' lead to 2-0 in the sixth.

Brandon Crawford entered the game to play shortstop in the bottom of the sixth, with Yangervis Solarte shifting to third to replace Longoria, who is expected to sit out Sunday's series finale at Petco Park.

"He fouled a ball off his calf, so it's pretty sore," Bochy said. "We'll give him a day. That's why he came out. He could have probably stayed out there, but he just wasn't moving very well. Why take a chance? We were covered with Craw on the bench."

Longoria has been the Giants' best hitter early this season, going 4-for-10 with one home run and two RBIs through the club's first three games.

San Francisco also suffered an injury scare after first baseman Brandon Belt was struck on the right hand by an 88 mph fastball from Padres starter Nick Margevicius in the fourth inning. Belt was evaluated by a team athletic trainer and stayed in for the remainder of the game. His right hand was wrapped afterward, but he said he's fine.
