Junior Giants initiative gives kids in need a chance to play ball

Interested in helping the Giants make a difference in the community? Consider making a donation to the Giants Community Fund as part of Giving Tuesday on Nov. 28.

The Giants Community Fund supports the Junior Giants, a free, non-competitive and coed baseball and softball program for youth ages 5-18, and a full slate of other programming options aimed at expanding opportunities for local kids from underserved communities. All proceeds will help eliminate financial barriers for families by providing players with their own uniforms, equipment and gear to play ball.

The Giants Community Fund recently invited participants and their families to Oracle Park for the 18th annual Junior Giants Willie Mac Award Lunch. Named in honor of the late , the event recognizes one volunteer and one player from each of the organization’s 86 leagues for their exemplary display of confidence, integrity, teamwork and leadership on and off the field.

, ,  and Mike “Tiny” Felder were among the current and former Giants who were in attendance and helped present recipients with personalized awards.
